The exhibition “FABVT: Future Afro Brazil Visions in Time“ is part of the exhibition project FAVT, that travels through Africa and Europe and now takes a stop-over in Salvador de Bahia. At each station not only local artists and cultural practitioners are invited to collaborate and extend the exhibition, but it also links itself with local discourses around futures and futurity – initially discussed by researchers and invited artists at the Bayreuth Academy of Advanced African Studies (Germany). We pose the questions: which concepts of future are developed in moments of uncertainty and rupture? How is future represented and visualized in art and fiction? In which ways does the past resonate into the future? And how can we anticipate alternative futures from a troubling present?
“FABVT: Future Afro Brazil Visions in Time” explores different debates which critically engage in reflecting, interpreting, imagining, intervening, troubling, translating and anticipating the concepts de “futures”, “temporalities” and “Africa”.
“FABVT: Future Afro Brazil Visions in Time” provides a discursive platform and includes photography, installations, soundscapes, projections, texts and performance.
